You've never had to convince any of us here at Lindsay Chevrolet that the Chevrolet Camaro is a powerful speedster, and a head-turner in the greater Woodbridge area. Every now and then however, pointing out that fact is something we like to do. Recently, a 2012 Camaro joined an exclusive club on the drag strip, paying homage to a classic edition of the muscle car.
The Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 posted two 11 second times on the track during a time trial run, taking its place in the esteemed '11 Second Club.' The automatic transmission of the specialized Camaro, which put up a 11.93-second time while reaching a top speed of 116 miles per hours, and a zero-to-sixty sprint time of four seconds. In the manual transmission, there was an ever so slight difference, as it came in with a time of 11.96 seconds.
Flying out of the gate like that to achieve a well-respected time must be credited to the 6.2-liter LSA V8 engine that pumps out 580 horsepower and 556 pound-feet of torque. The Camaro ZL1 was balanced and handles well, meaning it can go out for a spin on a road course and perform just as well as it would on the drag strip. This particular edition of the Chevy Camaro was paying its respects to the 1969 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, which boasted a 427 cubic in V8 engine, and was known for its impressive performances on the drag strip as well
