Post a Tree and Chevy Will Plant One

We have a riddle for you: How do you plant a tree without digging some soil and getting a little grubby? The answer: When you plant one virtually. That's exactly what American Automaker Chevrolet is asking drivers to do.

Like the social-media game FarmVille (still the rage among many Facebook users), Chevy's tree planting, or should we say posting, initiative allows participants to plant vegetation; specifically,  trees. Unlike FarmVille, the endeavor transforms all virtual trees into real trees.

No, we're not inferring this is some ethereal trick. Rather, with the help of the National Forest Foundation, Chevy has promised to plant one real tree for every virtual one posted on Facebook.

Together, Chevrolet and the National Forest Foundation with host this high-impact, green effort through the end of next year. In total, they will post up to 175,000 trees in national forests across the country. To top it all off, they're even covering the costs of the trees and labor.

Are you ready to plant your tree? Visit http://chevrolettreeproject.com/ today. Be sure to invite all of your friends to take part, too; we can never have too many trees.

Still wondering if your small effort is really worth it? Check this out!

Tree Facts
- One tree makes approximately 260 pounds of oxygen, every year. That means one adult tree produces enough air per year to support two people.
- One tree can clean as much carbon in a year as a car produces while commuting 26,000 miles.
- Over the course of its lifespan, a single tree can absorb 1-ton of CO2
